About us

Why our church

Ava First Southern Baptist Church is a bible believing church striving to promote family values and healthy relationships.

The First Southern Baptist Church of Ava was organized in December, 1897 by a handful of Christians who began sharing a church building in Ava, Missouri with two other denominations until 1914. On October 1, 1914, the Ava First Southern Baptist Church building was completed across from the current high school in Ava. Then, on April 2, 1961, the current church building located on Johnson Avenue just east of the Ava City Park facilities was completed and the members held their dedication service on that day. The FSBC in Ava, Missouri has enjoyed a reputation of being one of the warmest and friendliest churches in the region. The church campus is complete with a sanctuary that seats approximately 250 persons, has numerous class room facilities for all age groups, a full kitchen with cooking facilities, a basement dining room and meeting room facility, and multiple offices for church staff. The campus is maintained very nicely by the friendly people who have made this church their home fellowship.

Scripture of the Week:

" For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread; and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, "Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me." In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me." "
